Each program has different application requirements, so please be sure to read each application carefully.
No, you may participate any of Learn International’s Internship and Service Learning programs without credit. We offer programs to a variety of participants over 18 to encourage all to study abroad and create an environment for all to learn.
For faculty-led programs that are open to participants from outside the institution, it is up to the institution if you may participate. Please email Learn International for specific questions about this.
Learn International offers both credit and non-credit program options. Please contact us for more details on credit transfer.
Learn International will accept financial aid when available, but you must coordinate this process with your home institution. Please contact your financial aid and study abroad advisor for more information.
Deposits or participant commitment fees are due after acceptance and no later than 60 days prior to the start of your program, whichever comes first.
Every program will vary in length. Please see Learn International study abroad estimated fees here (link to pre-departure).
Participants can pay via an online payment method or international wire transfer. Please visit our “Making Payments” page for more information.
These programs each have 3 separate payments:
Typically there is a deposit and a program fee for faculty-led programs; however, Learn International does not collect payment for these programs directly. All payments are issued through the host institution offering the program, please contact us directly for instructions on this payment process.
We host most of our programs in Ireland, as we are an Irish based provider. However, we offer programs in other countries, such as South Africa, on a case-by-case basis. If you are not interested in Ireland, please contact us for other alternatives.
Yes, Learn International offers unpaid Internships within Ireland. We have 8-12 week options for participants in a variety of majors.

Yes, Learn International offers Service learning. Please visit our Service Learning page for more information.
Graduate participants can participate on both our Service Learning and Internship programs. For our faculty-led programs, graduates may be able to participate on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more details.
No, we accept participants from a variety of countries. While most of our participants are from America or Canada, we are open to participants from anywhere, depending on the visa requirements. If you are from a country that is not listed on the visa waiver program, then please contact Learn International to see how we can work with you.

If you are coming to Ireland for a short-term program – one day to 90 days – then you may not need a visa. However, there are some countries that require a visa for this type of programming. Please check here to see if you need a visa.
Learn International take Health and Safety very seriously and has dedicated, trained staff to assist with these issues. Please read our Health and Safety page for additional information.
Yes, Learn International requires every participant to have international health insurance coverage. Please visit our Health Insurance section for more information.
If your home university insurance matches the benefit plan of CISI, the insurance Learn International works with, then no you do not have to purchase extra insurance. You will have to show proof of your medical insurance, including the benefits, prior to arrival.
Yes, depending on the program you are interested in. Please contact us directly if you want to know which programs are eligible for scholarships.
Absolutely. While we have a strict policy about absenteeism from class or placements, when you do have time off we highly encourage participants to travel. There are many options within in Europe, where you can fly cheaply and have a good time.
If you do travel, we strongly encourage you to fly with a buddy or a group. Please make sure you inform Learn International staff of your travels, in case of an emergency.
