It's not an end: it's a new beginning!
Hello everybody!
The time has come to share with you my thoughts on this internship experience as it is my last week in the offices of Learn International.
The first word that comes to my mind is “gratitude.”
I could not have asked for a better experience.
A giant “thank you” goes to all the people who supported me.
Firstly, my supervisor Michelle and my colleague Manuel who have always been extremely patient, kind, collaborative and also great workers, incredible peers and trustworthy friends.
Moreover, I would like to thank all the members of Learn International team. Thank you, Cara for being present at all the staff meetings despite Fionn was not very happy that we take away his mother for one hour. Thanks Anna for the valuable advice and positive energy that, even through the screen, you are able to convey. Furthermore, I definitely need to mention Chris’ audio messages; he has always given us clear directions and he was immensely helpful despite being very busy.
Conclusively a “thank you” goes also to Laura and Balou, the pug! Opening the group chat in the morning and seeing his funny photos has always been a great motivation to start the day with a smile.
What did I learn from Learn International?
Here as follows you will find a brief list of things I have learnt during my summer internship:
- Always use capital letters when you use bullet points.
- It’s essential to organise your emails and your social media posts/publications in folders.
- Communication is the key: if you have a doubt, ask. If you don’t have doubts but you don’t feel 100% sure, ask. If you want to modify something, ask. It’s a simple and efficient way to save time and effort.
- Do not underestimate your creativity and kindness in the workplace: both of these factors play a very important role and make a difference with your peers and supervisors.
- Try to be optimistic as much as possible: if the rehearsals of the show go wrong, you will see that the performance will be a success, so do not worry 🙂
Small things are the important ones
I conclude by giving small tips for you, future intern, if you will have the chance to visit Dublin and Naas:
- This is a mandatory step if you will have the opportunity to work in the office of Learn International in Naas: before starting your working day, stop at the café “Bad Habits” and grab a cappuccino with a cream and chocolate chip brioche. (Spoiler alert: it’s Heaven on Earth.)
- If you have the opportunity to visit Dublin, you should definitely go around as much as possible on foot. Two of the most beautiful streets are Drury and Capel streets, especially if you like colourful houses, loud people and ethnic food.
- If you have time, don’t just stay in Dublin, but visit Ireland. I recommend Wicklow, Galway, the Aran Islands and the Giant’s Causeway. You will see that Mother Nature has always a trick up her sleeve.
Oops, and one last thing (I don’t want to bore you more): don’t forget to bloom, whenever and wherever you are.
