Scholarships and Funding

We do our best to make our programmes equitable for participants of diverse backgrounds and design them with affordability in mind. Having said that, we also offer scholarships for most programmes to help assist participants who need that little bit of extra help to achieve their study abroad dreams.

Scholarships

We offer a variety of scholarship options to suit the needs of our different students, programmes and partners. Each award has slightly different criteria and the amount(s) awarded vary.

Below are the scholarships we currently are offering to help enable you to to study abroad:

Virtual Internships for individual participants up to €400 for most placements.
Internships in Ireland for individual participants up to €1000 for most placements.
Internships in the UK for individual participants up to £1000 for most placements.
Semesters for individual participants up to €1000 for one semester.
Service Learning in Ireland for individual participants up to €1000 for all projects.
If you are an Alumni of Learn International and returning for a second programme you are eligible for our Alumni Scholarship of €500. Just ask us how to apply.

It is also important for participants to contact their Study Abroad Office to learn about what scholarship options may also be available to them. Additionally, it is recommend that participants inquire with their Financial Aid Office about whether their financial aid may be used to study abroad.

How to Apply

The scholarship application has two parts: a one-page essay about how the placement will contribute to your academic and career goals, and a choice of how you might record your internship experience. You can choose to either:

Write a weekly blog with photos of yourself.
Submit a weekly video blog.

All scholarship recipients will also be required to:

Submit weekly photos we can use for social media and marketing.
Write a testimonial at the end of the programme.

Please note that you must apply for your programme before you can qualify for any of the scholarships.

Terms and Conditions

All awards are deducted off your final programme payment and are contingent upon your completion of your chosen scholarship tasks.
In most cases, half of the scholarship will be awarded up front, and the other half will be awarded in the form of a refund after the successful completion of the scholarship requirements as outlined above.
Note that you have to apply for and be accepted to your Learn International programme(s) of choice in order to receive a scholarship decision.
Additional requirements may apply for specific programmes or scholarships.

‘Fund My Travel’ Initiative

If you are ready and excited to start planning your Study Abroad Programme, but discouraged by a financial road block, Learn International has another solution for you. We have teamed up with Fund My Travel, who provides us with an online platform where you can fundraise for your meaningful study abroad experience.
