Information Technology Virtual Internships

"Due to Covid-19, my internship changed from in-person to remote. I was able to view this opportunity through a completely new lens than my original internship plan. My remote internship placement has created opportunities I never knew could exist. My supervisors and I group video call at the start of every morning to catch up and discuss our daily tasks. We each bring something to the conversation. I tell them about what I have been thinking about working on, and they make recommendations as to how I could get those things accomplished. This gives me a sense of ownership and freedom during my remote internship."

"This has been such an incredible experience for me. At first, I knew nothing about what a virtual internship entails, but in the end, I learned quite a bit from it. The company that I worked for was a cooperative consultancy for aspiring entrepreneurs. It offers a place for a group of people passionate about starting their own businesses. In fact, these tasks were quite unfamiliar to me as I had no experience in starting a business. This was an open-ended project and I could make use of my imagination and creativity. It is much more interesting and unique compared with traditional office internships. It is especially rare to find businesses so passionate about fostering startups in Hong Kong, and this has certainly been an invaluable peek into the flourishing practices of entrepreneurship in Japan. "Though being in Ireland would've been a unique experience, I feel as though this remote internship was unique in itself. It gave me the chance to prove to myself that I can overcome learning curves, and I can do so without needing to rely on my peers. I always enjoyed working in groups and that is something I often do at school, but after this I can say that I trust myself as an individual to be successful."

"I really enjoyed my internship with Learn International. They were a really nice team to work for and my manager was so helpful and supportive and always available for any questions. I would really recommend an internship with LI as I feel that I have gained some great experience of both marketing and of working in an office. Make sure to make the most of your time as an intern by just getting stuck in straight away.
