The Rix Inclusive Research Institute is a flagship research centre. The centre’s mission is to ‘improve the lives of people with learning disabilities through effective use of digital and multimedia technologies’ to ‘challenge social injustice [and to] make a difference’.
The centre connects with UEL’s students, lecturers, and researchers and utilises an array of high-standard facilities. Rix spearheads research and learning partnerships and actively collaborates to develop software and training initiatives. By harnessing the power of digital technology, the centre offers support to some of the most marginalised sectors of East London’s diverse community.
The Rix Institute works together with disabled individuals, their families, and the professionals and organisations who support them. Together, they investigate new technologies and their implementation to educate, advocate, and help people to achieve independence in line with their needs.
