Role Description

The Internship Outreach & Placement Coordinator will help grow Learn International’s internships program for U.S. university students on short-term programs in Ireland. This candidate will actively develop relationships with local organisations, enterprises, professional networks, and host companies to place students. The candidate will have expert knowledge in Cork, Galway and Dublin, with the ability to expand our network to other destinations within and outside of Ireland.

In addition, this role will advise students, match students with prospective hosts, and assist in organising in-country programming. This is a varied role for an energetic go-getter with an entrepreneurial spirit. The role requires flexibility, creativity and willingness to travel frequently.

Summary of Job Duties:

Host-company Recruitment and Networking (50% of time)

  • Host recruitment: Oversee and further develop the host-company recruitment process.
  • Host-company network: Increase host-company network by min. 25% annually and maintain existing host relationships.
  • In-person host company visits: Yearly site visits for new and existing hosts in Dublin, Galway, Cork, and additional regions within Ireland for vetting and risk management.
  • Event planning: Host events for host companies within a set budget 
  • Train host companies on working with university students, manage expectations, and set placements up for success.
  • Zoho CRM: Enhancing our current processes with host company recruitment and tracking within Zoho CRM.
  • Feedback surveys: Develop feedback surveys for hosts and partners.
  • Budgeting: Work within a budget, negotiating costs and tracking expenditures.
  • Other as assigned.

Student Placements (40% of the time)

  • Application review: Thoroughly review student applications, ensuring all necessary information is complete and accurate.
  • Interviews: Conduct interviews with students and match them with suitable internship placements; participate in interviews with host companies as needed.
  • Check-ins and support: Perform check-ins with host companies and during student programs, ensuring a positive experience for both students and hosts.
  • Orientation: Assist with the student agenda and experience, sourcing lecturers, assist in the short-term staff recruitment and scheduling as needed. 
  • Mid-program support: Organize mid-program check-ins with students, provide ongoing support and address any issues that arise.
  • Event planning: Assist in organising field trips, site visits and excursions for students and visiting partners. 
  • Student evaluations: Prepare and disseminate student evaluations.
  • Urgent phone rotation: Be on call for student emergencies as a part of a company rota.
  • Other as assigned.

Marketing and Administrative Responsibilities (approximately 10% of time)

  • Develop and implement internship marketing strategies to recruit host companies.
  • Streamlining Processes: Continuously streamline processes related to internships host company outreach.
  • Update and maintain the host-company webpage.
  • Provide support for developing partner visits’ itineraries (as required).
  • Recruiting: Hiring short-term staff in conjunction with the Director of Operations to support in-country students.
  • Other as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Human Resources, Recruitment or similar field.
  • 5+ years working within a similar industry; direct experience working with internship placements for US study abroad students highly preferred. 
  • Existing network of host companies and organisations in Dublin, Cork, Galway and suburbs
  • Experience building successful, profitable networks
  • Ability to create and sustain effective relationships with students and employers
  • Expert knowledge in Dublin, Cork and Galway for transport, and logistics as relates to student experience
  • Experience creating and working within a budgets
  • Excellent technology and digital marketing skills: Zoho CRM, Google platforms, Microsoft, Social Media, CANVA and social media.  
  • Reliable transportation with a full, clean Irish or EU driver’s license. Public transportation is not considered reliable
  • Current valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Up-to-Date Manual Handling training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree: Business, Human Resources, Recruitment or similar
  • Experience working with higher education institutions and students
  • Second language in Spanish, German or Italian
  • Up-to-Date CPR & First Aid Certification

Compensation:

  • Salary: 43,500.00-45,000.00 Euros per annum based on experience

Internships with us are available year-round

Role requirements

  • Ability to stay on-task with little supervision
  • Reliable, high-speed internet available to you during specified working hours*
  • Personal computer or laptop with functional speakers and microphone; webchat headset preferred (for virtual placements)
  • WhatsApp downloaded and installed on their mobile phone
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Creativity and a positive, proactive attitude are essential
  • Knowledge of SEO, video editing and graphic design desirable

* For virtual placements. Normal business hours are in the Irish time zone, GMT+1 in the summer. Interns must be available to speak in-person with their supervisor for at least 1-2 hours per day, Monday-Friday. The rest of the work schedule can be flexible.

  • There will be a high degree of autonomy within the role, and the intern will report to Michelle Yalch, Internships and Study Abroad Manager.
