Work experience in the United Kingdom gives your résumé an international edge, particularly if you hope to work in finance or business, which are key drivers of British GDP growth.

In a competitive job market, having overseas experience is invaluable. It shows hiring managers your ambition and motivation to succeed. Working abroad also fosters independence, cultural awareness, and gives you market insights into other territories.

If this is your first time living abroad, you are guaranteed to develop personally as well as professionally.

The Learn International internship programme is designed to further your career goals and bring your academic knowledge to life while working with inspiring professionals in your field. It’s also the experience of a lifetime.

Find Your Perfect Internship

Most of our placements are based in London, Oxford and Edinburgh, three hubs of industry and academic excellence. Your placement will be selected according to your field of study and career goals.

Learn more about each internship category by selecting from the list below.

What will I learn?

Our internships revolve around learning. Past students describe it like a sandbox: the chance to hone skills, develop new ones, and build confidence, through experimentation and getting out of your comfort zone.

We can provide certified work hours, placement assessments and feedback to satisfy your university’s requirements for academic credit.

Internships also include the mentoring, support and learning goals that are often absent from graduate jobs.

What's Included:

Airfare, materials for placement, Tier 5 visa and associated costs, mandatory health insurance, meals and spending money aren’t included.

*Student residences are an extra fee and subject to availability. If residences aren’t available, homestays are the alternative option. Homestays will offer some meals.

Eligibility

In order to apply for this programme, all applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Must be a full-time degree level student or have graduated within the last 24 months at the start of your internship;

  • If English isn’t your first language, you must have or be willing to obtain a SELT (Secure English Language Test) with a score of 6.0 or above.

2023 Costs

We’re small, which helps us keep our fees competitive despite the fully customised programme we offer each student.

  • 8-week programme fee: £10,050
  • 10-week programme fee: £11,400
  • 12-week programme fee: £12,750

There’s an application fee of £95 and a participant commitment fee of £500 that are both non-refundable. Airfare, materials for placement, mandatory health insurance, lunches and spending money aren’t included.

Visa

To take part in an internship in the UK, you must have a Tier 5 visa, this also includes EU/EEA nationals.

This visa is issued by the British government and allows you to stay in the UK for up to six months. The application process is complex, so we have partnered with a specialist company that will guide you through it all. They provide detailed instructions and are available for any questions during the process. The visa requires you to pay two additional fees:

  • £729 GBP – This will be paid by you directly to our partners, as they need to issue the visa documents you need to apply.
  • £298 GBP – This fee will be paid by you directly to the UK government when you submit  your online visa application.

Professional Development Course

Learn International is dedicated to the commitment of lifelong learning. As such, your internship programme will include up to a £100 stipend towards enrolment onto a professional development course of your choosing to enroll in and complete while you’re on your internship.

For interns who decide not to avail of this opportunity, there will be no additional discount or cash back. Additional terms and conditions apply. Ask your Learn International Internship Coordinator for more information.
